In the second half of the 19th century, the city of Naples underwent impressive urban and social transformations, which were foreshadowed and documented by a wide constellation of literary and nonfiction texts. This essay aims to investigate the ways in which literary and nonfiction texts described and produced the urban transformations of Naples in those years.
