Abstract

European natural gas prices have increased for the third consecutive week due to declining stockpiles and tighter supplies following the loss of Russian gas flows through Ukraine. Prices are near a 14-month high of around €50 per megawatt-hour. The halt in Russian gas deliveries, combined with colder weather, has led to concerns about stockpiling challenges this winter. While there is no immediate risk of a shortage, the reliance on global liquefied natural gas to replace Russian gas has increased market volatility. Prices may rise further in the coming weeks due to global supply constraints. [Extracted from the article]
