Abstract
- Researchers from Fourth Military Medical University in Shaanxi, People's Republic of China, conducted a clinical trial on reconstructing through-and-through cheek defects caused by oral cavity malignancies. The study compared the outcomes of using a modified flap technique involving the transposition of cervicofacial and anterolateral thigh flaps with traditional surgery. Results showed that the group receiving the modified flap technique had higher scores for social function, mental health, and vitality, as well as improved salivation control and decreased flap-biting. The research was published in the Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and can be accessed online. [Extracted from the article]
