Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Michigan examined the impact of epidural disease on the local control of spinal metastases treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). The research compared outcomes between patients with spinal metastases localized to the bone and those with mild epidural spread. The study found that patients with epidural disease may benefit from treatment with SBRT before requiring surgery, as local control rates did not significantly differ between patients with and without epidural involvement. The findings suggest that early intervention with SBRT may be beneficial in managing spinal metastases. [Extracted from the article]
