Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Department of Pharmacy focused on analyzing the lycopene content in red guava juice using visible spectrophotometry. Lycopene, a carotenoid with antioxidant properties, plays a crucial role in the immune system's response to oxidative stress. The qualitative analysis revealed typical peaks of lycopene spectrum at 400-550 nm, with a maximum wavelength at 470 nm, while the quantitative analysis showed lycopene levels of 2.91 (+-) 0.465 mg/100 grams of juice. This research provides valuable insights into the phytochemical composition of red guava juice and its potential health benefits. [Extracted from the article]
