Abstract
- The article "Waking Before the Snow Melts: Detecting the Spring Transition in Evergreen Needleleaf Forests" published in the Bulletin of the Ecological Society of America discusses the challenges of determining the start and end of the growing season in evergreen needleleaf forests (ENFs) due to limited field measurements and issues with interpreting satellite data. The study used multiāscale remote sensing and photosynthesis measurements in Colorado, Saskatchewan, and Alaska to develop spectral methods for detecting photosynthesis during transition seasons. The research aims to link plant physiology with remote sensing to better understand the seasonal timing of photosynthesis in ENFs and its implications for the carbon cycle.
