Abstract
- The article presents the comments of several economists concerning the discussion of Robert J. Gordon on his acceleration idea of inflation in 1969 in the U.S. Robert Solow claims that Gordon's idea on the increasing rate of inflation gets no support from the data published. He denotes that in 1969 most economic measures of excess capacity are steady or rising, yet Gordon's model predicts a higher rate of inflation than on what actually has occurred throughout the said year. In addition, George Perry agrees to what Solow claimed that there is a mistake on Gordon's paper. Perry states that Gordon's finding in the manhours unemployment rate does not connect with what really took place. Moreover, the response of Gordon regarding the comments is given.
