Abstract

Monmouth College's Classics Day—an active outreach events that ties together not just disciplines throughout the school, but also other schools and community members from across the region—has evolved in important ways over its ten years of existence, both in response to various cultural developments and through independent realizations of better ways to operate. In its three-hour, biennial festival layout, Classics Day has served as something of a test lab for different innovations in the field of Classics, and it provides models of Classics at its most appealing. In the following article, I provide seven tips, based on insights gained from Classics Day, for Classics faculty members aiming to make their departments as strong and appealing as they can be during a time of challenge in the field.
