Abstract
- Researchers at Sao Paulo State University are exploring the potential of composite scaffolds for bone regeneration by integrating bioglass with polymers. The study focuses on fabricating and characterizing scaffolds comprising polylactic acid (PLA)/polyethylene glycol (PEG) fibers with silicate-chlorinated bioglasses. The findings suggest that these composite scaffolds have promise for bone tissue engineering applications, as they exhibit enhanced hydrophilicity, apatite formation potential, and robust cellular adhesion without cytotoxic effects. Financial support for this research was provided by Fundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Sao Paulo (FAPESP) and Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico (CNPQ).
