Abstract

A report from the Medical University of South Carolina compares the biomechanics of drop vertical jump landing tasks and functional outcomes in patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using quadriceps tendon (QT) and patellar tendon (PT) autografts. The study found no significant biomechanical differences between the two groups, suggesting that the QT graft may be a viable alternative for ACL reconstruction. Patients with both types of autografts demonstrated lower vertical ground reaction forces in the surgical limb compared to the nonsurgical limb. This research provides valuable insights for individuals undergoing ACL reconstruction surgery. [Extracted from the article]
