Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at University Pablo de Olavide in Seville, Spain, compared the prevalence, types, and severity of urinary incontinence (UI) between professional female soccer players and sedentary students. The study found that 35% of soccer players and 31% of sedentary students reported experiencing UI, with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) being the most prevalent type in both groups. Female soccer players exhibited a significantly higher prevalence of UI during physical exertion or exercise, highlighting the potential impact of high-impact sports on pelvic floor dysfunction. The researchers concluded that targeted interventions like pelvic floor training may be necessary for female soccer players to address UI issues. [Extracted from the article]
