Abstract
- The University of Texas Southwestern researchers have developed a method to predict post-transplant relapse of myelodysplastic syndromes by evaluating stem cells. They created a high-throughput DNA sequencing assay capable of identifying mutated stem cells and found that detecting persistent disease-associated mutations in stem cells was highly specific for relapse after transplantation. This research provides a potential biomarker to improve the design of curative therapeutic strategies for myelodysplastic syndromes. [Extracted from the article]
