Abstract

A study conducted by researchers from the Medical University of South Carolina analyzed trends in reported case volume by musculoskeletal oncology fellows in Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited training programs from 2017 to 2022. The study found that while total relevant oncology procedures increased over the study period, a significant number of fellows did not meet the minimum requirements for pediatric oncologic cases and total relevant oncology procedures. The researchers suggest that further investigation is needed to establish evidence-based case minimum requirements and competency-based assessment tools in musculoskeletal oncology.
