Abstract

A recent study from Texas Children's Hospital evaluated the effectiveness of balloon sinuplasty in treating pediatric chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The research found that balloon sinuplasty may not be as cost-effective as other treatment options such as adenoidectomy and endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). Pediatric otolaryngologists are advised to continue with adenoidectomy as a first-line treatment and consider ESS based on imaging and clinical scoring systems, as further large-scale investigations are needed to determine the efficacy of balloon sinuplasty for pediatric CRS.
