Abstract

A novel wide-band circularly polarized (CP) antenna with a step-like dielectric resonator (DR) is proposed, which features a two-order step-like dielectric resonator (TSDR) and fed by a Microstrip-slot structure. The parameter values of the TSDR are adjusted and the return loss (S<subscript>11</subscript>), axial ratio (AR), gain and radiation pattern are estimated by using HFSS. Results show that the new antenna has 10 dB S<subscript>11</subscript> bandwidth of 56.3% (3.7 GHz-6.6 GHz), 3 dB AR bandwidth of 52.2% (3.78 GHz-6.45 GHz), and gain of 2 dBic-4.4 dBic, respectively. The usable bandwidth and peak gain are increased by 15% and 13%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
