Abstract
- This article reports on a regional seminar conducted by the South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) in Andhra Pradesh in May 2005 in order to disseminate its research and development efforts and services to the textile mills in the region. There were 155 delegates who attended the seminar from the industry. SITRA scientists presented five technical papers in the technical session chaired by C. K. Rao, chairman of the Priyadarshini Spinning Mills. The topics discussed are: ways to achieve high labor productivity in spinning; technical yarns manufactured in short staple spinning systems; effect of short fiber content on the quality of combed sliver material and spun yarn characteristics; technology of high-speed weaving machines and quality requirements of yarns for these looms; and energy conservation measures in spinning mills.
