Abstract

From extraction experiments and γ-activity measurements, the exchange extraction constants corresponding to the general equilibriums Sr<superscript>2+</superscript> (aq) + 2 picrate (aq) + L (nb) ⇔ SrL<superscript>2+</superscript> (nb) + 2 picrate (nb) and M<superscript>2+</superscript> (aq) + SrL<superscript>2+</superscript> (nb) ⇔ ML<superscript>2+</superscript> (nb) + Sr<superscript>2+</superscript> (aq) taking place in the two–phase water–nitrobenzene system (M<superscript>2+</superscript> = Ca<superscript>2+</superscript>, Ba<superscript>2+</superscript>, Pb<superscript>2+</superscript>, Cu<superscript>2+</superscript>, Zn<superscript>2+</superscript>, Cd<superscript>2+</superscript>, Mn<superscript>2+</superscript>, Co<superscript>2+</superscript>, Ni<superscript>2+</superscript>, UO 2 2 + ; L = substituted calix[5]arenes; aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phase) were evaluated. Moreover, the stability constants of the ML<superscript>2+</superscript> complexes in nitrobenzene saturated with water were calculated. Very high stability constants of pentaethyl p-tert-butylcalix[5]arene pentaacetate ligand with Ba<superscript>2+</superscript> cation has been found. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
