Abstract

Researchers from the University of Ottawa conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials to evaluate the efficacy and safety of anticoagulants for preventing arterial thromboembolism (ATE) in ambulatory cancer patients based on primary tumor site. While prophylactic anticoagulation did not reduce ATE risks overall, it showed a protective effect among pancreatic cancer patients without increasing major bleeding. The study suggests that future research should further evaluate the use of prophylactic anticoagulants in reducing ATEs specifically in pancreatic cancer patients. [Extracted from the article]
