Abstract

Researchers at Radboud University Medical Center conducted a study on alpha-2-antiplasmin (A2AP) deficiency, a rare bleeding disorder characterized by increased fibrinolysis and bleeding. The study analyzed thrombin and plasmin generation profiles in A2AP-deficient patients, finding enhanced plasmin and thrombin generation compared to healthy controls. The research concluded that A2AP-deficient patients exhibit augmented plasmin generation profiles correlating with A2AP activity levels and bleeding phenotype. This study provides valuable insights into altered coagulation and fibrinolysis in patients with A2AP deficiency. [Extracted from the article]
