Abstract

Researchers at COMSATS University Islamabad developed rhamnolipids functionalized liposomes loaded with cinnamaldehyde to enhance antibacterial activity against foodborne Salmonella isolates. The stable rhamnosomes showed increased anti-Salmonella activity compared to free cinnamaldehyde, reducing bacterial biomass by 75-80% in antibiofilm assays. This innovative strategy offers a promising approach to controlling foodborne-resistant pathogens, as reported in the peer-reviewed study published in Food Science and Biotechnology. Financial support for the research came from the Pakistan Science Foundation. [Extracted from the article]
