Abstract

A recent study conducted at Queen's University in Belfast, United Kingdom, explored the experiences of residents and their families in an alcohol-related brain injury residential rehabilitation unit in Northern Ireland. The qualitative study aimed to understand the impact of the rehabilitation service on individuals with Alcohol Related Brain Injury (ARBI) and their caregivers. Findings indicated that residents reported improvements in psychological well-being, social relationships, functioning abilities, and abstinence from alcohol while in the unit, but family members expressed concerns about long-term impacts. The research concluded with plans to pilot an outreach intervention for individuals with ARBI. [Extracted from the article]
