Abstract

Researchers at Shenzhen University in China conducted a study exploring the motivation behind adolescents' participation in physical exercise from an evolutionary psychology perspective. The study involved 887 valid questionnaires from middle school, high school, and college students, and utilized structural equation modeling to validate hypotheses. The findings suggest that adolescents' engagement in physical exercise is driven by intrinsic motives rooted in evolutionary and natural selection mechanisms, rather than solely external factors. This research provides insights for policymakers and educators to develop initiatives promoting physical activity among youth for overall health and well-being. [Extracted from the article]
