Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Balochistan in Quetta, Pakistan, focused on investigating the tolerance pattern of Escherichia coli (E. coli) against heavy metals and pesticides in water samples collected from district Jhal Magsi. The research utilized Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assays to identify E. coli and the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method to assess heavy metal and pesticide resistance. The study found high resistance rates for certain heavy metals and pesticides, indicating the presence of multi-pollutant-resistant E. coli in water samples near agricultural fields, potentially useful for bioremediation efforts.
