Exploring the potential of agro-waste-mediated silver nanoparticles as antibacterial and antioxidant agents.

Abstract
- In the current investigation, pomegranate peel extract was employed to create silver nanoparticles. The produced nanoparticles were characterized using a variety of spectroscopic studies (PGP-AgNPs). Using the well diffusion method, the antibacterial effectiveness of PGP-AgNPs was investigated. Moreover, PGP-AgNPs' effect on free radicals was assessed. The absorbance of the nanoparticles is maximum at 449 nm in the ultraviolet-visible spectrum. Phenols in the peel extract were implicated in capping the PGP-AgNPs, according to the Fourier transform infrared spectra. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy investigation confirmed the crystalline form and spherical morphology of the nanoparticles with an average size of 37.92 nm. With regard to Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, the PGP-AgNPs have the strongest and weakest growth inhibitory activity. Against DPPH, hydrogen peroxide, and nitric oxide radicals, the PGP-AgNPs demonstrated strong radical scavenging capabilities. Hence, manufactured nanoparticles were a promising option for developing an antibacterial and antioxidant drug. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
