Abstract

The article discusses the similarities between Madeira wine from the island of Madeira and Sherry wine from Marco de Jerez in southern Spain. Both wines have faced challenges in the commercial market but have experienced a recent resurgence in popularity. The production processes of both wines involve oxygen exposure, with Madeira aging in oak barrels exposed to heat and Sherry styles like oloroso and palo cortado aging oxidatively. Both types of wine offer a range of styles from dry to sweet, with similar flavor profiles of nuts, dried fruit, and leather. [Extracted from the article]
