Abstract

A recent study conducted at California State University Long Beach focused on therapist-reported adaptations to an autism intervention for children aged 5-13. The research aimed to confirm the factor structure of adaptations, identify predictors of adaptation types, and examine associations with therapist fidelity. Results indicated two adaptation types, Augmenting and Reducing/Reordering, with unique predictors, such as child cognitive functioning and caregiver ethnicity. The study concluded that therapists likely adapt interventions to individual client needs without compromising fidelity.
