Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, focused on the potential cancer risk posed by trihalomethanes (THMs) in drinking water from the Barekese Water Treatment Plant. The research found that while the THM formation potential at the plant was below the WHO threshold, there were still low cancer risks associated with consuming the treated water. The study recommended further direct measurements of disinfection by-products to inform policies, regulations, and public health interventions.
