Abstract

The article in the Laryngoscope journal discusses the challenges of accessing the lateral sphenoid recess surgically and introduces a prelacrimal-transpterygoid/maxillary approach that offers direct access with a 0° endoscope. The study conducted on six patients showed successful treatment of lateral sphenoid recess defects without the need for revision surgery. The approach allows for multilayer reconstruction of the skull base and has shown lower rates of Vidian nerve injury compared to traditional methods. [Extracted from the article]
