Abstract

A recent study conducted in Oslo, Norway, explored childhood predictors of avoidant personality disorder (AvPD) traits in adolescence. The research found that factors such as social anxiety symptoms, neuroticism, low extraversion, and parental AvPD traits were associated with a higher number of AvPD traits in adolescents. Efforts to enhance self-worth, reduce social anxiety, and promote peer interaction among children may help reduce the development of AvPD traits in adolescence. This study was supported by Norges Forskningsrad and published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry. [Extracted from the article]
