Abstract

The article in the Journal of Small Animal Practice discusses a case of intravesical urinary bladder duplication in a 2-year-old male Staffordshire bull terrier presenting with chronic dysuria. The dog underwent a CT scan which revealed a tubular structure inside the urinary bladder, connected to the bladder wall and the prostatic urethra. Surgical removal of the abnormal structure led to complete resolution of clinical signs, with histological examination confirming urinary bladder duplication. This rare congenital anomaly was unique in that the duplicated bladder was located inside the main bladder and connected to the prostatic urethra through an accessory urethra.
