Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from Soochow University in Suzhou, China, focused on the relationship between serum VEGF and NRG1 levels and clinical symptoms in male patients with chronic schizophrenia. The study found that serum VEGF and NRG1(31 concentrations were significantly lower in male chronic schizophrenic patients compared to healthy controls. Additionally, serum VEGF concentration was negatively correlated with certain psychopathological symptoms and positively correlated with language scores, suggesting a potential contribution of VEGF dysregulation to the pathogenesis of chronic schizophrenia in males. The research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights into the role of angiogenic proteins in mental health disorders. [Extracted from the article]
