Abstract
- A recent study from the Heart Rhythm Management Centre focused on atrial fibrillation patients with persistent leaks following the Watchman device implantation. The research compared the effectiveness of half-dose non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (HD-NOAC) versus antiplatelet therapy (APT) in preventing thromboembolic events. Results showed that HD-NOAC was associated with a significantly lower rate of thromboembolic events compared to APT, but discontinuation of HD-NOAC increased the risk of stroke. This study provides valuable insights into the management of atrial fibrillation patients with post-Watchman leaks. [Extracted from the article]
