Abstract
- Researchers from Sichuan University conducted a study to evaluate myocardial involvement in patients with multiple myeloma at different stages using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping. The study included 20 patients with multiple myeloma and 15 age- and sex-matched controls who underwent CMR examination to assess native T1 and extracellular volume fraction (ECV). The findings suggest that ECV derived from CMR T1 mapping can help identify amyloid accumulation in patients with multiple myeloma, particularly in advanced stages of the disease. The researchers recommend that patients diagnosed with Stage II and Stage III multiple myeloma undergo CMR to detect myocardial infiltrative damage early. [Extracted from the article]
