Abstract
- A study conducted at Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark examined the impact of hypothermia treatment on fibrinolysis in cardiac arrest patients. The research found that hypothermia treatment led to increased plasminogen activity, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) levels, and tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) levels. This inhibited fibrinolysis, even after rewarming, which could potentially increase the risk of thromboembolism in these patients. The study was peer-reviewed and published in Therapeutic Hypothermia and Temperature Management. [Extracted from the article]
