Abstract
- A study conducted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens examined the periodontal treatment needs of children and adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in comparison to a healthy control group. The research found that children with IBD in remission had higher gingival inflammation and periodontal treatment needs compared to the control group. Older children and boys with IBD were identified as having more periodontal treatment needs, despite similar oral hygiene practices. The study highlights the importance of monitoring oral health in children with IBD to address potential periodontal issues. [Extracted from the article]
