Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology focused on dynamic bone crushing, specifically examining the thermo-mechanical characteristics of pig bone ribs. The study found that cortical bone plays a crucial role in shielding the trabecular component by resisting deformation and sustaining high load levels, ultimately cracking. The research highlighted a significant difference between static and dynamic failure mechanisms, emphasizing the need for further clinically oriented studies in this area. This study provides new insights into bone research and may pave the way for forensic-oriented studies to determine the nature of sustained loads on bones. [Extracted from the article]
