Abstract

A recent study conducted at Zagazig University introduced a new deep learning model that incorporates a superfluity mechanism to classify knee X-ray images into osteoporosis, osteopenia, and normal categories. The research utilized two knee datasets for training and testing the proposed model, comparing its performance with pre-trained models like AlexNet and ResNet50. The results showed that the Superfluity DL model outperformed the pre-trained models, achieving the highest accuracy rates of 85.42% and 79.39% for the two datasets, respectively. This study provides valuable insights into the detection of knee osteoporosis and osteopenia using advanced deep learning techniques. [Extracted from the article]
