Safety, Commitment, and Performance: A Study of Manufacturing Firms.

This study investigates the interplay between Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices, employee commitment, and employee performance at manufacturing companies. A quantitative approach using correlation and regression analyses assessed relationships between variables. Data were collected from 115 employees across three manufacturing companies in Ghana's Awutu Senya District. OHS practices positively influence both employee commitment and performance, with commitment partially mediating this relationship. This suggests that a safety-focused environment leads to a more committed and high-performing workforce. These findings hold significant practical implications for manufacturing companies. By prioritizing comprehensive OHS initiatives, organizations can cultivate a safer and more supportive work environment, which leads to a more engaged and productive workforce. This study examines the under-explored mediating role of employee commitment in the OHS-performance relationship within the manufacturing industry in Ghana.
