Abstract
- An audit by State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli highlighted inefficiencies in New York City's administration of the CityFHEPS rental voucher program, causing delays in families and individuals securing permanent housing. The audit revealed issues with delays in the housing search process, late subsidy payments to landlords, and inaccuracies in monitoring individuals after they leave the shelter system. Additionally, the audit raised concerns about oversight of nonprofits managing apartments purchased by the city for homeless New Yorkers. Despite the challenges, the Department of Social Services remains committed to serving the city's vulnerable population efficiently. [Extracted from the article]
