Abstract

A recent study conducted at Inha University Hospital in South Korea developed a deep learning algorithm model to automatically score and grade obstructive sleep apnea in adult polysomnography. The research aimed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of diagnosing sleep disorders, particularly obstructive sleep apnea, which can be time-consuming and laborious with manual grading. The deep learning model demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity in detecting apnea/hypopnea events across different severities of obstructive sleep apnea, suggesting potential advancements in automated respiratory event scoring.
