Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Institute of Electronics in Riga, Latvia, focused on developing a method for accurately estimating heart rate from wrist-based bioimpedance signals. The research highlighted the challenges of signal acquisition in wearables and the importance of electrode positioning relative to the arteries. The study demonstrated that a custom heart rate estimation algorithm, combined with signal preprocessing techniques, improved accuracy in estimating heart rate from wrist bioimpedance signals. The findings suggest the feasibility of using bipolar electrode setups on the wrist for heart rate estimation. [Extracted from the article]
