Abstract

Researchers at the University of Porto have published a study on the efficacy of chloroquine-derived bile salts in Pluronic F127 micelles against blood-stage Plasmodium falciparum, the parasite responsible for malaria. The study explores the use of polymeric micelles as nanovehicles for delivering antimalarial drugs, showing promising results in enhancing the antiplasmodial efficacy of the compounds. This research, supported by the NIH National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases, offers new possibilities for nanoformulations of antimalarial compounds. [Extracted from the article]
