Abstract

A study conducted at Horsens Regional Hospital in Denmark compared the outcomes of surgical versus conservative treatment for proximal hamstring avulsions using a shared decision-making strategy. The research involved 24 patients and found that both treatment approaches led to good clinical outcomes after 12 months. Patients in both groups showed improvements in various measures of strength and function, indicating that the shared decision-making strategy was effective regardless of the treatment chosen. The study was published in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine and was funded by the Health Research Foundation of Central Denmark Region and Familien Hede Nielsens Fond.
