Researchers at Xiamen University of Technology in China have developed a new method for creating active inner coatings for food packaging using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) reinforced with chlorogenic acid and functionalized layered clay. The study found that incorporating 3 wt% of layered clay enhanced the antioxidant, antibacterial, and UV absorption properties of the coating.
