Abstract

Researchers at Xiamen University of Technology in China have developed a new method for creating active inner coatings for food packaging using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) reinforced with chlorogenic acid and functionalized layered clay. The study found that incorporating 3 wt% of layered clay enhanced the antioxidant, antibacterial, and UV absorption properties of the coating. This innovative approach aims to improve the effectiveness and stability of active functions in food packaging applications, particularly in constructing polylactic acid (PLA) three-layer active films.
