Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Georgia compared the sedative effects of medetomidine-vatinoxan-midazolam (ZM) and dexmedetomidine-midazolam (DM) in pigeons. The research found that ZM provided similar sedation depth to DM but with reduced incidence of bradycardia. Further investigation is needed to determine the clinical applicability of this sedative in birds. The study was funded by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation and Dechra Veterinary Products, and the findings were published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research.
