Abstract

Job seekers are increasingly interested in part-time seasonal work, particularly in the retail sector, according to a report by iCIMS. Applications for seasonal retail jobs have increased by 15% from September 2023 and 70% from September 2022. Younger generations, especially Generation Z, are a significant part of the applicant pool, with many seeking temporary jobs for financial reasons and flexibility. Women, in particular, show a preference for part-time positions, citing competitive pay, a pleasant work environment, and employee discounts as top motivators. However, concerns about inconsistent hours, inadequate compensation, and high stress levels persist among workers. Employers are advised to address these issues to meet the high demand for seasonal workers during upcoming holiday seasons. [Extracted from the article]
