Abstract

Generation Z workers are increasingly turning to side hustles to develop new skills and future-proof their careers, with 44% of Gen Z side hustlers specifically focusing on skill-building. Many individuals with side hustles enjoy the autonomy of working for themselves and managing multiple jobs, with 40% dreaming of leaving their full-time job to focus on their side hustle. Side hustlers report feeling more financially secure and less stressed, with Gen Z workers in particular considering additional jobs to bolster their finances in the face of economic challenges. However, Gen Z faces unique struggles in the workplace, including potential biases in hiring and difficulties in acquiring essential workplace skills due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and remote work.
