Abstract

The European Union and China are still negotiating to avoid tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, with significant gaps remaining after eight rounds of discussions. The EU's trade chief and the Chinese Minister of Commerce recently had a video call to assess progress and agreed to continue technical talks. China has warned against individual pricing agreements with EU carmakers, preferring a common umbrella agreement for all manufacturers. If no agreement is reached by the end of October, EVs made in China could face tariffs as high as 45%. [Extracted from the article]
