Abstract

The article discusses new research on mental disorders conducted at the University of Marburg, focusing on the relationship between self-regulatory efficacy expectations and behavioral intensity in triggering mental disorders. The study suggests that extreme promotion and prevention focus of the value need can lead to mental disorders due to a reinforcement mechanism between efficacy expectations and behavioral intensity. The researchers developed an item pool and procedure to assess these relationships, aiming to identify risk groups for preventive purposes. Further studies are needed to determine the predictive relevance of these findings for mental disorders. [Extracted from the article]
