Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, focused on the risk factors for the failure of non-operative management among patients admitted for colonic diverticulitis. The research analyzed data from the National Inpatient Sample between 2010 and 2015, finding that peritoneal abscess and sepsis were strong predictors of non-operative management failure. Percutaneous drainage was associated with an 11% operative rate, highlighting the importance of early intervention in diverticular disease cases. This peer-reviewed study provides valuable insights into improving treatment outcomes for patients with colonic diverticulitis. [Extracted from the article]
